Re: Project: Hydroponic Chamber

ok im still puzzled with the fan set up. i sorta remember hearing that you can connect more than one fan to the fan connectors on a aquaero. i am losing (fan 4) connection to run my second flow sensor.
i was planning on having 2 fans on each of the other 3 fan conections. lets take (fan 1) for an example. if i set the fan speed in the aquaero suite to lets say 1500rpm, will both fans be running at that speed or will i have to set it to 3000rpm for both fans to run at 1500rpm ??

or will i be better off running all the fan independently via a multiswitch ?

If you want to run two fans off the same Aquaero header just wire them in parallel. However, just use one of the fans RPM lines so you can control the set. Make sense?

sorry TN, i must have missed this reply. im a bit confussed over the parallel, what do ya mean ?

i found out that the aquaero, that i bought as a v3.07 is in fact a v4.00. looks like they were putting in the PCB's in earlier than offically announced. either that or i got lucky.
if any1 wants to check you have to remove the front panel and under where the switches are located, should read " aquaero vX.XX.

so happy days. as 120mm fans are rated at 2.16 watts, i can run 3-4 fans to each channel. im gonna go with a 3 fans per channel which should lead to nicer wiring. just not sure what you mean by parallel ?

I have a question about the case. Where have you put your HDD? The slots destined for the HDD's are taken by a dual 120mm radiator. So where is the HDD?

Nice mod so far, you've got lots and lots of room and the cube. Me like! 8)

I can see two Aquadrives here.
And I think it'd be a shame installing two aquadrives and not putting your HDDs in there ;)

grrr posted the above by accident i was trying to change title.
i have given up on the hydroponic idea as it was proving far to difficult with my limited skills. changing the name to fire mountain.

any here is the

long over due update.
-------------------------
i got the builders in next week so im prolly not gonna be able to do much for the next week or two. but at least after i can hopefully get up to speed again, as im nowhere near where i wanted to be at this stage. but hey that's life for ya ;)

this arrived for me the other week along with some other sheets which are safely stored away till i need them.

i had always planned on a orange & black case. i had a hard time finding the acrylic the right colour for me. this is not classed as UV reactive but rather as flouresent, but it was discribed as light gathering & live edges. which sounds just about right, there will only be the edges on show when i have finished.

but before i could start on the acrylic, i needed to get the dremel on the standard AC grills. it had bugged me from the time i decided on the rad placements that the front didnt look like the back as the grill was hoizontal rather than vertical. so off came all the bars. to be replaced with some modders mesh at a later stage. which it looks like im gonna have to talk to bill about as i have had no luck in finding a good alternitive in the uk.

this is the end result after a lot of sweat & a few bad words. i have this & the 240 grill 100% done, but the 360 is about 90% complete. the sound of a file on stainless steel is worse than nails on a blackboard to me. even ear plugs wasn't doing much, so i'm having a rest from that. plus the acrylic was calling out to be worked on.

my modest work bench, tho not much to look at, it still does the job. as i been able to so far complete the 120 grill thus far.

i got the idea after seeing franklin's alumax case mod as seen on the AC forums. but he left the bars in place, so not exactly the same thing. he also lit his with led lights. i'm just gonna drill a series of small holes in the case just under the surrounds, and just let the light come from the internal lighting. as when lit from the back it really starts to bling. as seen in this picture with the sun coming in from the window.

i have been working on 240 surround today, tho i didnt get a chance to finish it before i had to pack everything away ready for the builders in the morning.

i started by cutting a piece of the acrylic just a bit wider than needed. then i drilled and bolted the cut out grill to it. this helped me keep the acrylic rigid while i was working on it. i got the modders fav sharpie marker and drew a line around this as my safety line ( only a file past this line ). i drilled a series of holes in the middle section, just the difficult bits like the corners. then out came the coping saw and i removed the middle, before sanding it down to the line with me dremel fitted with a sanding drum.

then it is all hand filing from the line down, so that it is flush with the grill. but that is gonna have to wait till another day.

lol im gonna get plastered 2morrow :D

If it's the aquastream controller to aquaero standoffs you're on about, I'm pretty sure they come already installed on the back of the aquaero.

I could be wrong, though ;)

lo carbine, how's your project coming on ?

iirc you do get 2 standoffs with the aquaero, but imo they are not long enough. i found some from maplins that were 30mm long, they only come in white nylon. so i had to get a black permenant marker on them.

IIRC you screw the aquastream controller's faceplate standoffs (short) into the aquastream standoffs (longer) and you're golden ;D

tyvm Infiltraitor  ;D

i have no picture so i have not posted anything. i have all the w/c stuff fitted now, tho i have now deicided to replace the tubing with the red uv stuff. been working on the acrylic & wiring.

i had some trouble sourcing the wiring, maplins sell all the connectors but couldnt supply me with the correct wiring. i also tried all my local electrical wholesalers & auto parts stores.

then i found these peeps  http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/rkmain…71067&XPAGENO=1

the acrylic stuff is coming along but at a slower rate than i expected, but i know im gonna have to get the side panels laser cut.

will update with some pics soon
