Dual Aquaero problem

Sonntag, 21. Februar 2010, 22:51

I have a weird problem with my Aquaeros. I Have 2 Aquaeros each
controlling one of my loops. When Windows boots and starts mounting USB
devices the Aquaeros enter into an endless loop of mounting/un-mounting
(windows makes the USB device mounting then un-mounting sound). And
Aquasuite cannot access any of the Aquaeros.

However, if I boot with just one of the Aquaeros connected THEN connect
the second to any internal USB port, everything works as expected and
both Aquaeros are accessible normally by Aquasuite.

I have tried connecting the Aquaeros to a powered hub and it's exactly
the same. I have also made a USB cable to connect the Aquaeros to 2 of
the external USB connectors of the M/B and again I get the same problem.

Has anyone had that problem and knows how to fix it? Or maybe Shoggy
knows a workaround?

Thanks

I would double-check that you have the USB cables on either end of both Aquaeros connected correctly....it's easy to get that reversed and could damage something!

After that, I would try using them together on the internal connectors in different combinations. Again, be careful about having them connected on the correct pins.

Could you tell us what mobo/OS/cpu you have?

I am extra careful about connecting the cables correctly. I have tried all possible combinations, I even made a USB cable to connect the Aquaeros to the external USB connectors of the motherboard: A type connector on one side and 1x5 internal USB connector on the other. Cables work perfectly but the problem persists. Its very strange and only happens at boot time if both Aquaeros are connected. If I connect the second Aquaero once Windows has booted, both Aquaeros are properly "mounted" and Aquasuite runs perfectly.

Mobo is Asus Rampage II Gene, I7 920, Windows 7 64bit (same behaviour with Vista 64bit)

I think you won't be able to fix that yourself. There have been always problems from time to time with ASUS boards. You can try to flash the current BIOS if not already done. Sometimes also a later BIOS will help.

Otherwise you can try a PCI controller card which solves those problems most times.
