Poweradjust 2 USB, red light flashes.

Dienstag, 15. Februar 2011, 06:38

Hi, I have 2 Poweradjust 2 USB, both are individually connected to a Laing DDC-1T plus (but the loop it self is in series) and are set up exactly the same way, but one of them is constantly blinking red. What does this mean? Both seem to function quite nicely from what i can tell..

I have made a little video on youtube

EDIT:

I can see now in the software that the electronics temperature is most likely the reason. But should it really reach 80C that easy?

I have also noted that the speed on PA2 device 2 automaticly goes up to 100% no matter how meny times i set it at 50-60% it always seconds later accelerates right back up tp 100% making my pumps loud and the electronics hot :(

Very likely that it is a problem with too much load on the device.

That it goes back to 100% is normal when a critical temperature is reached. This way the voltage regulator can cool down a bit since a lower speed causes a higher temperature. If the temperature is still climbing up, the output gets deactivated to avoid damages to the PCB.

Try to place them in a better ventilated place.

Thanks for your reply!

I have now introduced a 80mm noctua fan @ 800 rpm (super silent) that i managed to fit in the 5 1/2 bay space area, and the temps are now at a comfortable 40C ich ~

This is what i like about aquacomputer.

apart from "just" nice products, there is also great software with good functionality and also great support and community!

I'd also really like to know how to reset the PA2 please. I have one of mine that is playing up lots. After a few attempts to connect it via USB with power lead also connected, it is recognised as a device, and AquaSuite 2012 sees it, but only the System tab is available, which displays firmware as '0'. Attempts to flash firmware here appear to work in the software, but the PA2 LED never stops blinking, and even after power cycles, no firmware is recognised in AquaSuite.

The poweradjust is blinking on error. At default is blinking when no rpm signal is detected. You can setup the behavior per usb.

I don't think it's that, this is a really fast flashing, about 6 per second, and happens with or without fans connected to the PA2. If I connect fans to the PA2, they don't start on power up. I've also tried swapping it over with my other PA2, and connecting via AquaBus, but no luck. AquaSuite 2012 goes back to just seeing fan headers on the A5. If I connect the PA2 via USB, and flash FW, the LED still flashes away.

Same thing happened to me. This is a new Power Adjust standard version that I've only had a few weeks (see post about standoffs not coming with PA2). Turned on the pc one day and noticed the
fans were not working and the light on the PA2 was blinking. The temperature had been running in the low 50c range on that PA2 previously.

I think something is amiss here. I can see no fault with the wiring, in fact I have those same fans/exact wiring running from the Aquaero now with no problems.
The calculated power draw from the fans is 8 watts, which should be well within the range of the PA2 standard version even if you allow for start up current being doubled.

Did you have your PA2 connected via AquaBus at the time? I am wondering if this issue might be related to AuqaBus, in particular the PA2s handling of malformed packets over AquaBus. I was bench testing various cable lengths of AquaBus connections around the time mine went wrong.

Yes, they are always connected to Aquabus.
