AE5 defect or fixable?

Dienstag, 14. Juni 2011, 04:24

I finally got around to installing my AE5 XT and this is what my screen looked like when I turned it on, the horizontal line straight across my LCD. Is this an actual hardware defect or can this be fixed?

You could try re-seating the daughter board on the back where the pins join the boards together and if that doesnt fix it i would say its RMA time.
You'll obviously need to undo some screws to pull the boards apart to do this.

I'm really annoyed that I had to wait so long to get it, only to receive what looks like a defective AE5.
Will taking the AE5 apart to re-seat the daughter board void my warranty?

As for having to RMA all I have to say is "UGH" I really don't want to have to ship all the way back to Germany. I wonder if Shoggy can setup a cross shipping or maybe by some miracle convince a US vendor to let me RMA through them even though I didn't purchase it with them. It's a long shot but I one can hope :(

I doubt you will have any problems with warranty, you have to pull the boards apart to mount the water block if you purchase it, so i dont see how they could void the warranty unless you did something really stupid to it.
The guys are pretty good with warranty stuff from what ive seen anyway. Good luck, your only option may be to RMA direct. If you're in Australia there is a vendor called thekoolroom.com based in Melbourne that might help you out if shoggy were to ask???
