Need Help for the D5 Next fan short circuit alarm issues.

Mittwoch, 5. März 2025, 07:25

Hello, everyone.
I have re-builded my sff system and now I have problem with the fan short circuit alarm issue from the D5 Next which never happend before.
My system has 2 rads and 4 140mm fans.
When I connect all 4 fans to the D5 Next fan output by SPLITTY9(no active), the D5 Next raise the alarm for fan short circuit at the pc start time.
When I just connnect only 2 fans to the SPLITTY9, the D5 Next doesn't raise the alarm at the PC start time.
When I connect 3 fans to the SPLITTY9, the D5 Next raise the alarm again.
I have checked the 4 fan cables, and the system starts fine when I connect any ONLY ONE of them to the D5 NEXT or SPLITTY9.
The fan is ThermalTake TOUGHFAN 14 PRO which is Started Voltage 6V, Rated Voltage 12V, Rated Current 0.32A and Power Input 4.32Watts.
I don't know what's wrong with my system.
Can anyone help me?

Sorry for my poor English and thank you very much.

looks like the inrush current is too high.
you can use a splitty active: https://shop.aquacomputer.de/Luefter-Zub…fter::3830.html
the rated current is when the fan is running. some fans need more current for startup.

Hello, sebastian
Thank you for your reply.
How aboud L.N.C (low noise cables)? Would it be effect for reducing the inrush current?
