Issue with RPM reporting - Quadro controller - Arctic p12/14 fans

Sonntag, 27. April 2025, 19:29

Hi,

I'm opening this thread to report a possible problem : I just bought a Quadro controller, and I'm still learning top use it

I'm using daisy-chained P12s and 14s with my rads, each group of 3 daisdsychained on their own (I use their own male plugs) and then use a 4-pin extender to go to the controller : 3 p12 for my 360 rad and 3 140s for my 420.

The 1st channel is used for my pump PWM, the second for the 420 group, the 3rd for the 360 group, and the 4th for one p120 as exhaust.

After system boot, the 2nd and 3rd channels always fail to report (or display) RPM values, but if I unplug and replug the channel (2nd or 3rd), the RPM values are displayed correctly.

Am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks :)

It is a known problem. You can read more about it here which also describes a workaround. This adapter can be also purchased from us on request.

Hi Shoggy,

First, thanks for the fast response.

Secondly, I read that thread carefully, and I tested my 3 p12s up top with a 3-way Y splitter I had lying around, wich, in fact, don't have a signal pin on the second port, nor the 3rd one..
And indee, the RPM values were still only showed after a replug of the 4pin cable to the associated channel

But the real strange thing come from the fact that my fort p12, wich is connected alone 30cm male to female adapter, with its 4 pins on each end also exhibit the same issue...

Addition : while I was writing the draft for that answer, I tried to manualy kill the Aquasuite Service, then the software, and then restarted both of them, but then, each of the channels kept showing RPMs correctly. Then I rebooted my comuter, and the software showed correct RPM values without me having to unplug/replug anything beforehand.

Nevermind, I rebooted again, and the reporting error is cropping back up.

Addition No 2 : it seems like my top P12s are able to report their RPM correctly If I use the "boost" function on them, the only one on wich it's not working is the exhaust one, maybe it's coming from a "weird batch" as mentioned in the Reddit post

I have to admit, I like a good puzzle, it's stimulating. Anyway, I'm gonna do some more tests with more fans and combinations of spitters, then I'll report back my findings.

After a bit of fiddling, I found out some new things :

After an unplug/replug, the RPM values of the p12 group at the top and the single one at exhaust are showing, it even survive reboots, but not cold boot.

Wether they are daisychained via RST, daisychaind with standard splitters or plugged each on their own to the Quadro controller don't make any difference : surviving reboots, but not cold boot.

About the adapter you mentioned, is it this one ? https://shop.aquacomputer.de/Monitoring-…tml?language=en

And if so, can I chain 2 for them to make it a 3-way splitter ?

Thanks
