So, I am currently on aquasuite x.38. I know its old but its the version that was available when I bought the octo + farbwek 360 and I never bothered upgrading or paying for the new releases.

I am planning on either reformatting my existing pc or building a new pc but moving the octo + farbwek 360 over. I am fine with this version of aquasuite.

My question is how would I go about installing aquasuite (on the new pc or my reformatted existing pc) to utilize my octo without having to pay for the license again?

Do I just copy the whole programs folder
C:\Program Files\aquasuite

And paste it..... And then simply just run the exe? Would that work properly?

I am asking because I remember inputting the serial or something when I installed aquasuite, but I lost that serial.

Any guidance before I reformat would be appreciated.

Normally; you just download the installer from the website, and it will detect your devices, then offer to install the latest aquasuite version you were entitled to, X.38 in your case if that's what you had when your license expired.
I believe if there's some major safety update, they will also upgrade you for free to that safer version, but i have no idea if there's been any between X.38 and now

You can still save your settings tho, going to the very bottom of the aquasuite > settings page, opening the application data folder, and saving its contents somewhere so you can restore those after reinstalling

At first you have to make sure that your currently used version X.38 is also the latest version that the setup offers right now. You can simply run the aquasuite setup and check which version it offers without renewing the update service. This will be also the version that you have to use on the new system. You can not select the version X.38 again if you are entitled to use a newer one for free.

The relevant point is that your currently saved data must be from the same aquasuite version that you will install later. So, if a newer version is already offered, you have to upgrade first. If there is a larger gap between your currently used version and the newer version, it might be possible that it can not be migrated anyway...

To save all relevant data, copy the folder C:\ProgramData\aquasuite-data. In the new system you simply copy back this folder before you run the aquasuite setup. During the installation you select normal installation so that the old data will be used.

will reformat some time this week and report back.

i was tinkering with some stuff and forgot how well built this software actually is. and realized this is only 10 euro a year. might actually just pay it moving forward.

There have been some major additions and improvements to Aquasuite since X38. IMHO, it is definitely worth upgrading. You will have to update the firmware in your Octo and Farbwek360. Also, Microsoft NET will need to updated to NET 8.0.

just an update here.

i just reformatted my computer and installed windows 11. everything was a success. no issues. when i went to install aquasuite, i could simply just pick the latest version or the latest (free version) that was available.

yep. i will be doing this shortly. really like aquasuite. very easy to use, simple and no nonsense.
