Temperature

Freitag, 25. März 2005, 10:58

Hi all,

I was wondering. How do I measure the temperature of my CPU when I watercool it?
My current situation (aircooling) involves a temperature probe under the CPU. This gives a very accurate temperature reading, but a slightly worse cooling (no full contact with the aircooler).
What do you people recommend?

Nearly every Mainboard has an diode under the socket....
Its not very precise, but to measure the temperature difference its enough...
if you want a reliable temperature in a water colling you have to measure the water temperature, a cpu in most cases is about 15 degrees warmer than the water temperature...

Errrm, where is your sensor?! You say under the CPU and in the next sentence it sounds like you put it between the CPU and aircooler.

Well, anyway this temperature is inaccurate. Only a thermal diode inside the CPU will give you a half-way good value with +/- 7°C (according to a AMD datasheet).

Okay, in my current setup the temp. probe is under the CPU. Because the probe is not infintessimal thin, the CPU will be slightly tilted, thus preventing a perfectly straight fit onto the cooler. Capice? :)

So measuring the watertemperature is the best way.
Hmm... do you sell watertemperature-gauges too? If yeas, can they be combined with a fancontroller? i.e. Connect the watertemperature-gauge to the temperaturesensor of the fancontroller.
