Eheim 1048 with AC aqua inlet

Donnerstag, 1. Juni 2006, 16:35

Hey,

I've bought the aqua inlet from Aqua Computer for my Eheim 1048. Problem is, I can't get the pump quiet with this reservoir. There is no air in the loop, the situation doesn't improve at all after 30 minutes of shaking the WC setup. It almost seems like the pump isn't able to pull the water in the reservoir fast enough. I'm using tubes of 8/6 mm. My radiator is mounted in a spare case where ATAPI devices are supposed to be, the pump and res are at the bottom and I use a CPU block of the Maze type. No other components are water cooled.

It's a rattling noise, which is not uncommon for any pump with air in the loop, however when I clearly can't see any air bubbles in the loop and when my loop is voilently shaken for half an hour the sound continues at the same level. Even after 2 days of leaving it rattling the sound gets even worse.

What am I supposed to do? I'm using destilled water with a blue liquid called "Liquid Ice Cubes". Though with or without this the pump does exactly the same thing.

I dont think das the rattling is because of the aqua inlet, if there is no air in the loop, than the eheim is fast enough. Maybe your pump is damaged while you installed the aqua inlet.

Do you have another pump to test it?

it does still have air in... 2 options... 1 switch on and off (like 100+ times) until it is quiet... or leave the pump on for a night... though you may still have to do the first option when you wake up. Good luck.

Hey,

thanks for answering :)

Leaving the watercooled system to get the air out doesn't work. Switching it on and off about a 100 times does change the sound that the pump makes. I also don't think that I damaged it a I have been able, though only once, to get it silent. I do however think that the rattling is caused by the additive that I purchased from the bloke who sold me the radiator. That causes the water to slightly make some foam. It isn't visible in the tubing but by opening the inlet there usually is a bit of foam on the top.

So here is my next question. Obviously I need to change the water and use a different additive. I currently use distilled water.
Is there a better type of water that I should use and which additive do you guys recommend?

Distilled is the best water to use, and get some AC Fluid if you can ;)

Hello.
I have a rattling sound from my 1046 pump when i use it at 49hz but when i change it to 51hz then its quiet.
I only have this problem with one of my pumps.
I use them with aquastream.
