Ampinel not powering down when shutting down PC and going in alarm.

Freitag, 8. Mai 2026, 19:29

Hey folks, just received my Ampinel, lovely piece of tech. I do however have a very annoying issue. When I shut down my PC Ampinel keeps getting power and ends up going in alarm. Anyone run in to this yet? I also can't shut down the alarms, adjusting the delay doesn't seem to work. It's driving me up the walls.
Edit: Solved by disabling Windows 11 Fast Boot.

Interesting problem. I don't have an Ampinel so I can't say for sure, but I suspect the Ampinel brain is powered from the USB connection. If this is correct, then whatever USB port you have it connected to may be set to stay powered when the computer is shut down. USB power settings are usually configured in the BIOS. You could try connecting it to a different USB port or booting into the BIOS and checking the USB port power settings. I did not see any mention of this in the Ampinel manual, but the Leakshield manual says the following. In your case, you need to do the opposite of this - configure the USB port to NOT stay powered when the computer is shut down.

ATTENTION: To be able to operate LEAKSHIELD even when the PC is in standby,
you must configure the USB port in the Bios settings in such a way that the power
supply remains activated.

The AMPINEL is just powered from the 12V lines from your PSU.
When you shut down the PC, the power supply should cut off the 12V power; if it doesn't, something's wrong.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies! Yeah I tried just about anything I could think of, including removing the USB cable. The rig turns of, the GPU powers down but Ampinel stays on and ends up going in alarm because it doesn't sense the GPU. I fear the unit is defective. My buddy received his as well and that doesn't display that behavior.

when you power off your system, your psu have to switch off the 12V supply. (the 12V2X6 Connector) when the 12V is off, the ampinel is OFF.
This is no issue with the ampinel, this is an issue from your PSU oder mainboard.

Yeah doubt I can change much about that. I checked in my bios and I do have the "PCIE Devices Power On" setting enabled to listen for WOL packets on a pcie card, maybe that is keeping Ampinel turned on. I might try turning that off and checking but that involves installing the Ampinel again and I'm not looking forward to go and unplug that bloody connector a couple times again only causing wear for it to maybe not work after all.

Ok for someone stumbling upon this post I'll post some relevant info and weirdness. I ended up installing it again cause I just couldn't let it rest.
PSU. Corsair RM1000x Cybenetics Gold ATX3.1 PCIe5.1
Motherboard: Asrock X870E Taichi
CPU: 9800X3D
I tried disabling the PCIE Devices Power On setting. That didn't do anything. I enabled Deep Sleep, which apparently is the AsRock version of ERP, that also changes nothing.

The strange thing is though, I have it when I shut down from Windows. When I just power down with the power button during the boot cycle the Ampinel also powers down like it should. Power down from Windows with the command or power button and Ampinel stays powered. So atleast it's usable now, I'll dig a bit deeper to see what the difference is in those power down methods.
Edit, ok I found it. For anyone running in to this, disable Windows Fast Boot...
