Quadro losses sensor and fan names

Freitag, 27. September 2024, 21:41

Hi,
Since a few days the quadro loses the custom names of fans and sensors.
Fan curves and speeds are not lost and still active.

It happened twice today, and two days ago.

HighFlow Next is working perfect and does not lose it's custom names.
Already did export the settings so i can reapply them when they are lost again.

Sound like an USB or readout issue.

Check whether the bios and mainboard drivers are up to date.
Deactivate ALL overclocking (RAM, CPU), over/under voltage in the bios

Try an other USB port.
Check your wiring.
Uninstall the USB device and Reboot your Computer to reinstall.
Close all other Monitoring Software.
If you are using something other than Windows Defender on your system, deactivate it as a test.

That was my post. I never did figure out what caused my Octo to revert to default names that day, and it has not happened since. I don't know where the user defined custom names for Octo PWM ports, Soft Sensors, and the Octo device name are stored but think it may be in C:\ProgramData\aquasuite-data\.aquasuite_db.database because I see this file gets updated every time I change a user defined name. I could be totally wrong about this. I don't think they are downloaded to the Octo because when I change a name I don't see the little floppy disc icon that appears when data is written to the Octo. I suspect that if Aquasuite cannot access this file for some reason, the default names will be applied.

I don't see where the things Sebastian suggested would have anything to do with this, but I am guessing about where and how these user defined names are stored and he knows where and how they are stored. I will note that when this happened to my Octo in 2022 it was 2 days after I had updated my mobo BIOS and was tweaking RAM timings due to getting some WHEA errors.
