Keyboard not working during boot

Donnerstag, 20. Oktober 2011, 21:08

Hi,

I've an aquaero 5 XT. However, ever since installing the aquaero, my keyboard doesn't work for boot selection screens during startup. Once windows loads, everything works fine, but I can't use my keyboard during boot.

Any suggestions?

are you plugged into USB 3.0? if so you might need to check if legacy is turned on. Check the same thing for USB 2.
Not sure if it will help, but I know on my PC i had similar issues. Not after installing an aquaero but after a Bios reset etc.

No, it's plugged into a usb2.0 header.

If the Aquaero isn't plugged into internal USB does it work for you then? Have you tried changing which internal pins its connected to? and does all USB work correctly in windows?

Some bioses don't support multiple keyboards. They just grab the first they find and ignore the rest. Since the Aquaero5 IS a keyboard, I think that's the most logical explanation. Try changing ports on BOTH the AE5 and your keyboard and see if you can find a configuration that reliably targets your hardware keyboard first. Also, file an issue in the Aquaero5 bug tracking system. If the possibility for that error exists, it is an issue for sure, if not necessarily a bug. One solution I can pick of the top of my stack is to introduce a miniscule delay into the usb reply of the aquaero, to make sure other keyboards are detected first. I haven't read through all the USBHID-specs but I believe they give a device a little leeway in how quickly it needs to reply to a query. Mind you people, I'm not suggesting going off-spec, just to move to the far end of what's permitted.

well I finally got around to taking apart my case and disconnecting the usb cable. It works fine without the aquaero connected.

As a work-around, I attached a usb header extension cable and placed the junction in an easily accessible location. That way I can disconnect as needed. But I shouldn't have to do this for such a high-end and expensive product such as the aquaero 5 xt

My board is an Asus sabertooth 990fx, it's a new high-end UEFI based motherboard, so while I can't argue with your logic that the board only supports one keyboard, I find it unlikely.

Also, where do I submit a bug report?

you can submit bug reports here: http://development.aquacomputer.de/thebu…s/new/bugreport

Conveniently for you, the site is even in english.
